Sony Ericsson is hosting a five-a-side soccer tournament this Friday, in a bid to raise £24,000 (€28,877) for a UK children’s charity. Teams from Sony Music, O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone are among those competing.
HP has won a US Air Force contract to deploy a cyber control system to help it identify threats to US cyberspace.
Google has accused politicians of overreacting in their response to the Street View scandal, but reserved the right to fire the engineer behind the Wi-Fi packet sniffing code.
BT has signed a deal with Olympic Broadcasting Services London to supply the broadcast and media network for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.
Orange has launched a range of Android-powered smartphones bundled with contract plans, including the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 mini for just €9, ranging to top-end phones like the HTC Desire for €49.
Satellite operator Inmarsat has won the MacRobert engineering prize for its Broadband Global Area Network service offering.
Some 82% of global cariers surveyed by Infonetics plan to deploy LTE between 2012 and 2014, the research firm says. Just over half of the operators making the switch will use HSPA+ as an interim measure, the survey found.
