Hungarian mobile operator Pannon has contracted Alcatel-Lucent to transform its core network to all-IP, in preparation for the introduction of LTE.

Ericsson has completed the acquisition of German OSS/BSS software and services company LHS through a minority shareholder squeeze-out process.

BT has won a five-year, €13.6 million contract to provide networked IT services for paper merchant PaperlinX.

Tandberg boosted its Q4 operating profit 14% to $60 million (€44.3 million), with sales up 20%. The company expects its acquisition by Cisco to be completed in the first half of 2010.

Juniper Networks has unveiled a $50 million (€36.9 million) fund to back technologies and applications built on its Junos platform. It will primarily target early- and growth-stage venture-backed companies over the next two years.

Dell is preparing to take the fight to Apple with an iPad-rivalling tablet PC. Reports from the US state the PC maker is set to launch the Mini 5, which will have a 5-inch display, and run Android OS on a 1GHz processor.

Revenues from mobile LBS will hit $12.7 billion (€9.3 billion) by 2014, according to figures from Juniper Research. The growth will be driven by increased sales of smartphones, the launch of more apps stores, and new developments in hybrid positioning technology.

Hutchison Whampoa is preparing to pump £1 billion (€1.1 billion) into the UK market over the next two years, with investments in retail, property, and telecoms businesses set to grow its presence in the country, Reuters reports.
